Surfing with intonation

Elizabeth, our conversation assistant is from Hawaii . She has lived in California, too. 

She helped us with intonation in affirmative sentences and questions, too. Rising tones are like waves one can surf. We used our hands to monitor the different intonation, rising the or keeping them still, as we would do with a surf board.
