Bauhaus sphere

We started the year with a new approach to the arts and crafts class. We are doing a colour laboratory project: we'll learn to work as scientists using art as a subject.

The first task was to build a sphere using a flat surface. We divided the class in groups, and we worked in a cooperative way: we shared materials, and showed one another what the steps were. This is the foundations for the scientific method.
In the next session, we had thinking circles to find out how to put the three pieces together. Once we found out, we made a cascading system so transmit information. Everyone enjoyed the final outcome. We found out it makes a great ball to toss and catch. We also noticed that it can be folded flat into 2D or popped up into 3D.
